I.T. Move Planning and Management

Depending on the scale of the move an I.T. Move Manager may be assigned to work closely with facilities and I.T. departments to produce a schedule and relocation plan to ensure minimum downtime of critical services. The Move Manager is responsible for liaising with the customer and members of the I.T. relocation team.

RELOCATION PROCEDURE

STEP 1

On the disconnect of computer devices each system is certified that it is working properly – notes are taken on each system. All systems are labeled so that they can be reconnected exactly as they were found. End users are able to request specific system configurations. After the movers place the systems the technician verifies that no damage has occurred during the relocation, thus eliminating liability issues.

STEP 2

When the computers are disconnected - cables, external devices, switchboxes, and components are bagged and labeled so they can be properly reconnected at their new destination.

STEP 3

Systems and cables are unbagged, reconnected and connected to power outlets.

STEP 4

Systems are checked for proper boot up and connectivity is checked. This insures the end user will have no down time.

STEP 5

The office layout is checked so that systems are placed exactly as the end user has requested.
